When someone smells good, they’re automatically more attractive.” anonymous

Not all men realize this, but it’s important to prioritize wearing a fragrance that suits your body chemistry.

Whatever smell you exude can make or break people’s perception of you.

That’s why you need to take active control of your scents and odors.

If you want to attract people, you have to smell attractive yourself.

Finding and wearing the right fragrance must be a priority in your life.

In order to understand ‘How Fragrance Influences Attraction’, we turn to science.

While it’s true that both men and women respond well to attractive smells,

it turns out that women have a better sense of smell than men.

To be more specific, one study has found that females have more glial cells and neurons than males.

So the next time you head out to meet a date, check yourself, and make sure that you and your clothes smell fresh.

Our olfactory sense is better at triggering memories and emotions than any of our other senses.

Psychology Today suggest that this is most likely due to how our brain is wired.

The areas of the brain strongly associated with emotion and memory – the amygdala and hippocampus – are directly connected to our olfactory bulb.

The bulb itself is located inside the nose and across the bottom of the brain.

Studies that looked at brain activity also revealed that the above-mentioned parts of the brain become more active with olfactory stimuli than when any other senses are involved.

In short, the quality of your scent can dictate the images, emotions, and memories evoked in the brain of anyone who smells it.

A good scent can start a conversation.

It becomes part of the room and occupies a very real space in the social dimension.

With a scent you can catch the most composed individual off guard, whether male or female.

You can provoke or withhold response. Scents can even shape, reshape, and challenge preconceived notions of femininity and masculinity.

That’s why GQ magazine is recommending men to wear women’s perfume for their freshness and subtlety.

And why not?

If a scent that’s supposedly assigned to another gender suits you, nothing should stop you from wearing it.

In a comprehensive article published via PubMed, lavender essential oil has been found to have an effect that’s similar to diazepam.

According to several animal and human investigations, lavender is

  • an anxiolytic (anti-anxiety)
  • mood stabilizer
  • analgesic
  • and may possibly even protect the brain from neurological disorders

    -all without long-term side effects.

Other herbs and scents have been found to have beneficial effects as well.

But if certain scents can have such powerful effects, it’s not far-fetched to assume that the mood-improving effects of some perfumes could be more than just psychological.

Often we look to inspiration in grooming from sources in the media.

Most fragrances have a celebrity brand ambassador, which creates an instant connection between the perfume and the customer.

The most obvious example of this is the James Bond 007 Fragrance that was released to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the character.

James Bond is seen as the ultimate gentleman and is a huge style and grooming inspiration for men.

Wearing a fragrance linked to a character, or celebrity, allows the wearer to project the type of person they want to be.

It is an extra layer of confidence.

Entertainment Daily announced that Daniel Craig will again be appearing as James Bond in the next installment of the espionage series.

Each Bond film featuring Craig now has its own unique scent, and Bond 25 is likely to be no different.

Celebrities and brands employ this strategy because scents have the power to connect with people on a primal level – which is what you can do if you make fragrance a priority in your life.
